Pre-Departure Checklist

We're not going to create an extensive list. We simply want to point out certain very important items that, for example, you may need to consider far in advance of your trip.

To Do:

  • Ensure you have all of your shots. Make sure you do this a few months in advance, as some shots, such as Twinrix (Hepatitis A/B), require multiple shots. Visit the CDC, click on the country you'll be visiting and the site will return a list of shots along with up to date travel health news.
  • Prepare a Health Kit, with OTC and prescription medications. The CDC has a great guide to help ensure you have all the items you'll need.
  • Check to see if a travel visa is required. If it is required, read up on whether it's better to get the visa before leaving, or if you can simply pay for it upon arrival. Often one option is cheaper and recommended.
  • Leave your itinerary with someone in case there is an emergency while you are away.
